Nursery School’s Preparing to Welcome Back Students in Malawi
Nursery school is an important stepping stone in a child’s path to success. Determined to Develop continues to be involved with the running of four local nursery schools. The D2D staff recently hosted a training workshop for nursery school teachers. During the workshop, teachers learned strategies for effective lesson planning and recognizing different developmental stages in a child’s life.
Community nursery school teachers worked together to categorize the developmental stages of the children in their care into cognitive, social & emotional, language, and movement & physical categories. The teachers discussed the observations of their students in these stages and planned for ways to better document a child’s progress.
At the end of the workshop, all teachers were excited and encouraged to get back into the classroom after a long break during school closures due to COVID-19.
