D2D visits SOS Children’s Village

D2D’s Residential Youth Program is one of the five main areas of programming on the ground in Malawi. It’s managed by the Residential Program Manager and overseen by a House Committee. This committee consists of representatives from the community, parents, and youth as well as the District’s Child Protection Officer. The D2D team and committee work together to maintain a high standard of care for the youth in this program to make sure all their needs are met and they are supported as much as possible.

Recently, the committee members and a few D2D staff were able to visit SOS Children Village in Mzuzu, a program very similar to ours in Chilumba. We were able to tour their facilities and learn about their policies. It was a great experience to see other programs doing similar work and share ideas on best practices. We’re excited to review some of our policies to make improvements based on what we learned to benefit the youth involved in this program. Our team is always looking for ways to make our programming the best for our beneficiaries.

A big thanks to SOS Children Village in Mzuzu for hosting us.

Please help D2D get the word out about the great things we’re doing in Malawi, Africa by sharing this story with your friends!
